Cyprus Police – the Cybercrime Subdivision, have received reports about fake messages sent on social media websites and via mobile SMS messages, which call on citizens to follow a link, in order to pay for falsely alleged traffic fines.
The aim is to defraud citizens and steal money or obtain personal data.
Cyprus Police DO NOT contact citizens this way.
What to do in case you receive such messages:
- DO NOT click on such suspicious links
- DO NOT share information regarding personal or banking data
Extra caution is advised in case such messages, leading to unknown electronic links, are received
